Within Walking Distance: 5 Exceptional Eateries

Whether it’s to savor the setting sun and a little people watching, or because you’d like to enjoy an adult beverage or two, being able to walk to a great selection of restaurants while you’re vacationing on Cape Cod is just one of the benefits of staying at the Seadar Inn by the Sea. As you’re planning your vacation for the warmer months (we’re open from late April through late October), plan on dinner at one of these within-walking-distance hot spots.

1.       Ember Coal Fired Pizza & Wings – .3 Miles from Seadar Inn

Ember Coal Fired Pizza & Wings

As the name suggests, Ember’s specialty is their coal-fired pizzas with more than a dozen and half specialty pizzas on the menu in addition to a ‘build your own’ section. Pair your pizza with a salad or some of the classic pub-style appetizers or opt for a burger or one of the Italian entrees. A big bar is a great place for a casual beer and outdoor dining – there’s even a fire pit – is a must do on warm summer evenings. Open from mid-April through the New Year’s Eve.

2.       Hot Stove Saloon – .4 Miles from Seadar Inn

If your trip to Cape Cod just wouldn’t be complete without a hefty dose of local color, you’ll love the Hot Stove Saloon. Locals and visitors gather here year round to relax in the warm and welcoming classic pub atmosphere and enjoy a 20-ouncer of Cape Cod Beer on tap. Burgers and hefty sandwiches are house specialties as is local seafood and comfort food like macaroni and cheese and BBQ baby back ribs.

3.       The Port – .5 Miles from Seadar Inn

$1 Oysters in the afternoon at The Port are must!

Oysters at The Port

One of the more upscale restaurants in Harwich Port, The Port is perfect if you like to get little dressed up while you’re on vacation, but still want to enjoy a relaxing experience. The early bird doesn’t get the worm at The Port, but does get $1 Chatham oysters at the bar (hours of availability vary based on the season). Start with oysters, if you’re so inclined, and an over-sized martini and then move into the dining room to enjoy the restaurant’s contemporary take on fresh Cape Cod seafood. Open from mid-April through the New Year’s Eve.

4.       Cape Sea Grille – .6 Miles from Seadar Inn

The Cape Sea Grille

Another great option for a special night out is The Cape Sea Grille located in a 19th-century sea captain’s home on a quiet side street. The expansive menu created by chef/owner Douglas Ramler changes regularly to highlight fresh, seasonally-available produce and seafood. Creative interpretations of duck, lamb and beef round out the menu. An inviting bar located in the center of the bustling restaurant is perfect for a casual bite. Open from mid-April through mid-December.

5.       Land Ho! – 1.1 Miles from Seadar Inn

Open since 2010, an infant compared its sister restaurant in Orleans, the Land Ho! has quickly become a regular haunt for locals and a not-to-be-missed stop for visitors. The Land Ho! is a pub – rambunctious, dark wood, red-and-white-checkered tablecloths, lots of appetizer, burger and sandwich choices and draft beer options – that manages to seamlessly include a well-chosen list of wines offered by the glass and unexpected menu selections. It’s the cool blend – of both food choices and the patrons – that make the Ho! such a cool spot. Belly up to the bar and try to decide if that guy next to you is a fisherman or New York Times’ bestselling author; both are likely to be found here on any given night and each is likely to be decked out in well-worn L.L. Bean. Open year round.
