The Woods Hole, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket Steamship Authority

If you’re headed to Martha’s Vineyard and would like to bring your car over to the island, there’s only way to do it; with the Woods Hole, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket Steamship Authority. Martha’s Vineyard is quite large and having a car means you can head out to Aquinnah and see the famed Gay Head Lighthouse, so it can be worth the added expense. This quasi-government agency offers ferry service to Nantucket from Hyannis Harbor – both traditional ferries which can carry vehicles and passenger-only fast ferries – and service to Martha’s Vineyard from Woods Hole. Because of its government affiliation, the Steamship sails 365 days a year, weather permitting. If you’re travelling with a vehicle, reservations are required. Passengers do not require reservations. Bikes and dogs are welcome.
